Sick Again?

Seems to be the theme of the season over here. Last week Maddy was sick and this week it's Logan's turn. Although oddly enough they didn't have the same thing. I think Logan has the stomach flu. Timing couldn't be better. Must be because we decided it was time to potty train him. Kind of like washing your car and then it inevitably rains the next day. You start potty training your kid and they immediately get really sick. Even with the diarrhea and vomiting he has been doing a great job. Still his good natured self, but more mellow than usual. He just looks kind of stunned when this stuff comes flying out of his mouth. The other night he was sitting next to me and started throwing up. I ran quickly to grab the worlds smallest hand towel. I was able to catch some warm vomit in the small towel but as I called to Dean to grab a towel I could tell the smell was starting to get to me. After having passed up the towel sitting on the couch or the linen closet Dean finally returned from the far bathroom with a towel. Open-mouthed I rushed Logan to the bathroom and stripped his chunky clothes off to put him in the tub. By that point I had already gagged and swallowed my own vomit several times until the smell got the best of me. Usually I am the strong one while Dean is gagging. So Logan in all his comedic timing sees mommy bent over the toilet and places his hand on my back and says, "Mommy why are you throwing up?" Lol It was like something out of a comedy with the two of us throwing up and me running around gagging. Dean had a good laugh about it after he unfortunately had to do the clean up. He sure has come a long way. If you had told him 7 years ago he would be able to keep it together while his kid was vomiting and having diarrhea issues he would not have believed you. (Although he still does that nasal talking because he doesn't want to actually breathe or smell any of it). Glad there is some humor in the tough stuff. Logan seems to be doing a little better today so I will hope the worst part is over. I am simply grateful today to not be doing this alone. Thanks honey for all the nightly blowouts that you have changed and all the bleaching and disinfecting we did together. And hey the sick season is almost over right?

A Day At The Beach

Just a few pictures of the kids last week at the beach. Can you believe this was the first week of March? The weather here has been absolutely beautiful lately.I know if you're in cold weather you may be ready to kill us right about now. You're always welcome to come visit though. :) One of my very favorite places is the beach. Lucky for me it is also one of Maddy and Logan's favorite places. Although we go there in the evenings as a family it had been a while with the holidays and cooler temperatures since we have spent a day at the beach. The kids can spend hours playing there. Dad was even able to stop by and enjoy lunch with us. Something about the beach that is just relaxing and peaceful. And a great time for the kids. I think if I had no responsibilities this might be how I spent everyday.

Completely Amazing

I don't know if any of you have already seen this but a friend of mine was telling me about this 17 month old baby that can read. If you haven't seen this video you have got to watch it. I have thought of how amazing this is 10 times since I saw this video yesterday. Most kids this age are learning to talk. She doesn't even sound the words out. I am blown away. Obviously this is a gift this little girl has been blessed with. Thinking maybe college at 8. :) Just click on the link and launch the video clip.

She's Got Talent!

Madelyn seems to have inherited my (Burdean) ability to organize things in a very symmetrical matter.  I'm mostly this way with my electrical cords when I'm setting up home office or home theater.  First here are pics of her organizing all of her dolls and stuffed animals.  Once again this is while mommy naps.  Must be nice.

These are pics of her from being outside in the backyard in January with a woven basket that she dissembled herself (grrr).  Pretty nice arrangement doncha think?

So glad these pictures are aligned symmetrical. . .
