Memorial Day

Yea for long weekends.I love it when it's already Tuesday and it feels like Monday. Already a day closer to the weekend. Nothing too eventful this week except celebrating Dean's birthday yesterday with family and getting to play some volleyball. I really do miss playing.(was pretty funny with my big belly belly and trying to actually jump high enough to get off the ground ) Luckily I forgot my camera at home. We always have a great time when the family gets together. Aside from that I have been busy with kindergarten stuff for Maddy for the fall. I am trying to transfer her schools. Who knew there was kindergarten politics? On Friday Dean and I are headed out to St. George and Las Vegas. If anyone knows anything fun to do in St. George or places to eat and shows to see in Vegas please let me know. Not quite sure if we are going to try and do more activities or do more relaxing. We are going to Zions national Park and then on to vegas for our anniversary. I have never been to Zion's but have heard it is beautiful. 5 whole days without the kids! We are pretty excited. I can hardly wait to relax. Open-mouthed

Happy Birthday Burdean

Actually Happy birthday yesterday but a day late is better than never right? Happy birthday honey. I just wanted to let you know that your family loves and appreciates you beyond measure. I will spare you anymore talk of  not getting older just wiser. (He told me he must be getting old when people start making up lame sayings like that to make themselves feel better.) I am ecstatic  to see you truly embracing the Basil birthday spirit. Trying to enjoy & milk your birthday for a few weeks. With more celebrating next week and even receiving some of your gifts on our little vaca in a few weeks. (Some extra golf and shopping) Hope you have a wonderful few weeks celebrating, getting to sleep in and enjoying your gourmet breakfasts. We love you!              May 2008 021      May 2008 059   May 2008 076      May 2008 072

A few pictures from yesterday. It was pretty sweet when I had asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday. I figured we would go to a nice dinner and a movie or something. Instead he opted for an afternoon playing with his kids, having a bonfire, and spending the evening under the stars.

Father and sons

This weekend Dean and Logan went on their second annual father and sons camping trip. It was very cute to see my boys go off and to see them both so excited to go camping together. I love watching the video of their little trip together. Seeing as how Dean is a Montana man they opted to really rough it. Sleeping on a mattress in the back of my suv. :) Well maybe he has been in Cali a little too long. Logan was excited to come home and tell me all about his experiences popping balloons with arrows, getting to ride in a boat and of course the pancakes and ice cream sandwiches. He loved telling me about his adventures falling out of the boat and getting wet.(I guess he leaned back too far and fell back in the boat getting his head and shirt wet. ) Yuck. The water is disgusting in the bottom of the boat. At least at 2 you are unaware of that.  Maddy and I stayed closer to home and had what she calls "Just Maddy Mommy time." By 1:00 on Friday she was getting antsy for Dad to get home so we could start our weekend. It was a very fun weekend of Maddy choices. We had a fancy dinner at IHOP, watched Peter Pan and made banana splits. She wasn't in bed till almost 11. She was loving it.

Sunday was a wonderful day as well. What is not to love about a holiday to celebrate and appreciate some of the most important people in our lives.I will forever be grateful for my own mother and the extraordinary life she has led. I am grateful for the honor and priviledge of being a mother as well. I am grateful to each of the mother's that I know and for their example. For the patience, grace, and huge doses of humor that they go though motherhood with. I hope everyone had a sweet and memorable mother's Day.

                                                   Their happy reunion

These two were pretty funny once they were reunited. After a while it was quiet (always a reason to wonder what they are up to) and when I looked in Maddy's room I found these 2 laying across a dresser watching Peter Pan. Maddy had found the peter pan movie and started it on her computer. Haha even I need help with that. When I peeked in she was comforting Logan and giving him a kiss because he said hook was a little scary.

It's A...........

GIRL. We are ecstatic and even a little shocked. Most of our family and friends thought we were having a boy so it's still sinking in. I must say that a smile crosses my face every time I think of it though. Although I would have been very happy with either once they said girl I realized I was kind of hoping for another girl. I can't wait to have another precious little girl. Friday was a perfect day all around. Since we had the technology from the early 1900's with the first 2 (we were in Montana) it was amazing to see the 4D ultrasound of our little one. It was amazing to really be able to see her little face, arms, legs, even a shot into the brain and the blood flow to her heart. I was blown away that at only a pound they could see that much.(Had such an impact on me I haven't even been able to drink my once a week Dr. Pepper)  The look on Maddy's face was priceless when the doctor told her it was going to be a girl. She said,"A sister!" "That's just what I wanted." I am very excited for her to have a sister as well. I adore my own sisters and am grateful that she will get a chance to have that special bond with a sister.

Logan has come around to the idea of a sister quite quickly. When he left our appointment he started to cry and asked where the baby was. He wanted to take her home right then. He has asked me several times since then where his baby sister is. When I tell him she is still in my tummy and needs to grow bigger he tells me, "but she wants to come out now." They both have been saying some extremely sweet and hilarious things about the baby since then. Logan has told me not to jump so the baby wouldn't fall out and Maddy has been very concerned if her nails are sharp so she doesn't hurt the baby when she rubs my belly. Tonight she told Logan he needed to talk to the baby through the little hole(my belly button).I think having them at the ultrasound and seeing the baby made the whole pregnancy a lot more real. I thought the bulging belly was a good hint but the kids didn't really seem to notice that until now.It was great to be able to share such a special day with them. I was also grateful that my sweet mother was able to be there as well. So bring on the pink, the princesses, the dolls, the sweetness, and a little drama. :)Here are a few pictures of our little girl from the ultrasound. If you click on the second set you can see her face pretty well too.
